The Mustangs will host Westlake Select ’18 (Austin, TX) under the lights at the Episcopal School of Dallas on Friday, May 31, 7:30pm. This game will officially kick off our summer season and should be a good warm-up for the the Texas Draw, June 1-2. It should be a fun reunion with our old coach, Tom Greene.
The Texas Mustangs ’18 have an active summer schedule and look forward to competing at the following tournaments:
George Powers, the legendary Long Island lacrosse coach, and Michael Powers, George’s son and former John Hopkins lacrosse player, paid us a visit in Dallas from New York and conducted “POWERS SESSIONS” for our Stangs.
George is the head lacrosse coach at Nassau Community College and was the 2010-2011 UnderArmour All American Team Head Coach. He has 25 years of coaching and training experience. George has produced multiple college championships and coached/mentored numerous College All-Americans. He gives coaching seminars to current high school and college programs to implement his tough mentality. George has an incredible knowledge of every aspect of the game, this was a great chance for our Mustangs to get mentally stronger while improving their knowledge of offense/defense, footwork, teamwork, and enhance their overall lacrosse IQ.
The Texas Mustangs lacrosse team had an impressive showing for Dallas-area lacrosse at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions in Tampa, Florida (laxtoc.com) held on December 27-31, 2012. They placed 6th out of 27 teams competing in the U13 division. This was a pre-qualifying tournament and is known as the “National Championship for Lacrosse”. The ‘Stangs played some of the best lacrosse teams in the country, competing against select clubs from Baltimore, Seattle, Canada and Florida in the U13 division. The ‘Stangs managed a 4-2 record over the weekend and finally lost one heart-breaker in overtime.
The Mustangs have been invited to compete in Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This prestigous tournament is considered the national championship of youth lacrosse. This years U13 field includes 27 teams from 15 states and Canada. We are expecting some stout competition from North America’s finest.
